Harini Thiagarajan

Hi! I'm Harini, a sophomore at MIT studying Electrical Engineering & Computer Science and Mathematics (6-5 & 18) from Seattle, WA.

I'm interested in building reliable, adaptable, and aligned AI, with a focus on continual learning, AI safety, and robust, generalizable reasoning under distribution shift. I currently do research in MIT CSAIL's Improbable AI Lab under Prof. Pulkit Agrawal, studying post-training for LLMs through the lens of continual learning.

Previously, I interned at Amazon Last Mile, working at the intersection of machine learning and software engineering on delivery optimization. During my first year, I worked on robotics/reinforcement learning at MIT AeroAstro's ARCLab under Prof. Richard Linares. I spent most of my time in high school working in gravitational wave research under Prof. Ansel Neunzert at LIGO Caltech, and was awarded the 1st Place Grand Award at the 2024 Regeneron ISEF.

Outside of academics and research, I'm a co-captain of MIT Nritya (Indian classical dance) and dance with MIT Mirchi (Bollywood fusion), competing as part of the team. I also play violin and grew up learning both Western classical and Indian classical genres.

I love meeting new people and talking about... everything! Feel free to reach out harinit9 [at] mit [dot] edu.
